Daphna Edwards Ziman is the chairperson and founder of Children Uniting Nations, a proactive organization created to elevate child welfare to the forefront of the world’s consciousness.
The series started as a documentation and exhibition of the cultural diversity around me. I photographed many locations including nightclubs, gun shows, radio club meetings, and science fairs. Each of these unique locations offered just as unique strangers. Everyone in this series had a different way of presenting themselves for the camera. Setting up my signature backdrop in their environment created trust, which allowed me to capture the genuine personalities of each subject.
This diversity of people photographed together in a uniform manner creates a commonality between class, race and creed. The thesis being that diversity and human nature can be so captivating on this fundamental level while understanding what we all have in common- humanity.
